A new boss or coworkers - Aleksi is going to need a job, and not just to help him acclimate to living in a new place.
Other werewolves - having just lost his pack, there is a big void in Aleksi's life for people like himself.
Another survivor from his hometown, unbeknownst to Aleksi - especially if they have any insight into exactly what happened.
“There will be little rubs and disappointments everywhere, and we are all apt to expect too much; but then, if one scheme of happiness fails, human nature turns to another; if the first calculation is wrong, we make a second better: we find comfort somewhere.”
QUIRKS: Paranoid, and a tendency to startle easily. LIKES: Books, thunderstorms, being outside, bonfires, the entire science fiction genre, museums, good food. DISLIKES: Hospitals, power outages, bananas and anything banana flavored, intolerant mindsets or behaviors, social media.
Before the events that turned his life upside down and left him in a strange new place with no connections to anyone, Aleksi was quiet but friendly, if more interested in his books than much else. Although he didn't like to draw attention to himself, he has always been the type to stand up to bullies, especially for those who could not defend themselves. He was an eloquent speaker, on the occasions he decided to actually speak, rather than mumble his contributions to any conversation.
Now, he is dealing with the grief of losing his pack and his home, as well as adjusting to life in a brand new place. His time in the Upside Down left him with a large dose of paranoia, some insomnia, and sent his protective instincts into overdrive. Aleksi has retained his love of nature and being outdoors, though he is particularly wary of accidentally finding himself in that place again.
HEIGHT: 6' 1" WEIGHT: 180 lbs. HAIR: Black EYES: Green
Aleksi doesn't think much of his own looks, even if he's had people tell him that he's objectively attractive. Standing about an inch over six feet with messy black hair and green eyes, he doesn't tend to put any actual effort into his appearance. He's a little more fair skinned than one would expect, what with the amount of time he likes to spend out in the sun. Aleksi spends most of his time in jeans and t-shirts, although he prefers to be barefoot when he can get away with it.
Distinguishing Marks: A half-circle scar on the outside of his left hand from a burn when he was younger. Newly, he also has a long, jagged scar which goes from the left side of his chest and winds down the outside of his ribs to his hip bone.
Aleksi grew up in a tiny mountain town on the western edges of Montana, part of a relatively small pack of werewolves who’d settled there a few generations prior and had never left. He himself had never had much interest in leaving either, perfectly content to spend his entire life within the same 200-mile radius. Though the pack was not as large as some - at less than a dozen individuals, they were practically tiny compared to others - it was more than enough for Aleksi to grow up as part of a community. And for the first twenty-five years, it was as mundane an existence as a werewolf could possibly hope for. The most notable thing was his mother’s sudden passing - diagnosed with ovarian cancer when Aleksi was eighteen, her battle with the disease only lasted four short months before claiming her life. While it upset him deeply, he was almost more disturbed by the way in which her death devastated his father, pushing him away from the pack in his grief in a manner that was upsetting and concerning for all. But aside from that, life was as normal as could be - Aleksi worked at the same public library on Main Street from the time he was sixteen, graduated high school and college, both of which were still within the town limits.
It was shortly after his twenty-sixth birthday that strange things began happening in town. At first no one thought much of the strange graffiti and the weirdly flickering lights that seemed to come from nowhere. The sudden thunderstorms that only lasted a few minutes were pretty bizarre as well, but everyone just sort of accepted them as well, even with the purple flashes of lightning. But as time passed, the amount of weirdness continued to grow - houses being overtaken by previously unknown vegetation in a span of hours, streetlights crumbling into dust, cracks and holes mysteriously appearing the the middle of roads, children disappearing as they walked home from school - and no one had any answers or explanations, no ideas how to stop whatever it was that was happening to them. Many of the townsfolk fled, or tried to. Some of them returned with more horror stories, of monsters forming an inescapable barrier across all the ways out of town. Others came back silent, alone when they’d left in a group, their eyes filled with tears. And many were never seen again, their fates unknown.
Aleksi and his pack banded together, sticking close to home and each other, hoping to ride out whatever madness had taken over by taking shelter on their ranch for however long they needed to. But the chaos eventually reached them as well, and Aleksi is certain that he will never forget the casual brutality of the beasts he lost his family to. As the sole survivor - mostly due to the self-sacrificing actions of his father, which allowed Aleksi to escape during the distraction - he wandered into town in the hopes of finding someone, anyone else left. By the time he got there though, it was too late. Most of the building were either burnt to the ground, or crumbling under the weight of the plant life slowly strangling the structures.
Alone, and with no idea what to do next, Aleksi wandered the abandoned and destroyed streets of his hometown for a few hours before encountering one of the monsters responsible for the deaths of his family. A fit of blind rage had him shifting into the wolf to attack, which was apparently something of a surprise for the creature. It fled, and Aleksi followed, tracking the beast into a cavern that was unlike anything he’d ever seen before in his life. Nothing looked or smelled right, all of his senses going haywire from how utterly wrong everything was. It took almost no time at all for Aleksi to become lost, with no idea how to escape. He remained in wolf form the entire time - he had a number of encounters with the monster as he wandered, with no idea how long he’d been stuck.
Escaping that place was a matter of sheer luck, and Aleksi now has to adjust to life in Repose.
